About
The Santa Barbara Zoo is dedicated to the preservation, conservation, and enhancement of nature and all of its living creatures. Through education, research, and recreation, the zoo staff works hard to accomplish this mission.
The zoo first opened in August of 1963, and although there have been changes and updates made along the way, the zoo still focuses on its mission. A trip to this zoo is a great way to learn about animals and their conservation and preservation.
Activities
The Santa Barbara Zoo offers many diverse experiences. From now until April 2019, you can see the koala exhibit! Two koalas, Chuckles and Thackory, are currently on loan to the zoo as ambassadors. Stop by to see them and learn more about koalas.
You can also have an opportunity to feed Masai giraffes at the Santa Barbara Zoo. The cost is $8 per adult and $4 per child. Have an experience of a lifetime when you hand feed these gorgeous animals.
There are many other incredible experiences at the zoo. Take a behind the scenes tour of the zoo, feed the barnyard animals, explore a climbing wall, mine for “gems,” and more!
