Biking Santa Barbara: Your Ultimate Guide

Biking Santa Barbara is a great way to experience the city. When you go biking, you can explore the city up close and on your own terms. We love feeling the wind in our hair as we coast along the coast! These are a few of our favorite places to go biking Santa Barbara.

Cabrillo Beach Blvd.

This 4.5 mile bike ride takes you right along the ocean. You’ll get to catch breathtaking views of the ocean as you go biking Santa Barbara along this trail. Cabrillo Beach trail will take you from Stearns Wharf to East beach and back to Santa Barbara Harbor. Along this paved path, you’ll find restaurants and shops if you want to stop in shop or get a bite to eat. Since this is an easy trail, you’ll be able to take the whole family along for the fun!

Leadbetter Beach to Hendry’s Beach

This moderate ride is around 7-8 miles round trip. Start at Leadbetter Beach and bike along the beach to Hendry’s. When you go biking Santa Barbara along this sandy beach, make sure to check the tides beforehand, since high tides can make it difficult to bike across the sand. If you’re looking to bike this path, the best time to go is mid-summer. Since this is a moderate ride, more experienced bikers who are comfortable riding on uneven terrain are best for this biking experience.

Los Padres National Forest

The trails in Los Padres National Forest are challenging and can be tricky. For this reason, we recommend experienced bikers only on these routes. If you’re experienced and interested in mountain biking, you can’t beat these trails! Go biking Santa Barbara through the forest trails and see incredible natural beauty. Los Padres has 1,257 miles of well-maintained trials that will take you up steep ascents, down rocky pathways, and give you an up-close view of Santa Barbara’s nature.

Biking around the city

If you want a more relaxed ride, full of interesting stops, go biking Santa Barbara through the city of Santa Barbara itself! When you bike through Santa Barbara, you’ll pass by many different shops you can stop in and explore. If you get hungry during your ride, you can also stop in one of the many restaurants to grab a bite to eat!
