While you’re on the West coast, you might be thinking, “I have to catch a sunset before I leave!” And you’d be correct! You don’t want to miss the chance to see a spectacular Santa Barbara sunset. But where do you watch it from? We’ve narrowed it down to four perfect places to soak in sunset.
Stearns Wharf
Stearns Wharf was completed in 1872 and is an iconic part of Santa Barbara. The wharf offers dining, entertainment, shopping. and incredible ocean views. Stroll to the end of the wharf at dusk to watch the sun disappear into the sea.
Butterfly Beach
Butterfly Beach is a favorite among locals and dog owners. If you’re visiting Santa Barbara with your dog, bring them (on leash) to this dog friendly beach to dip their paws in the water! Then, at the end of the day, relax in the sand and catch a spectacular Santa Barbara sunset. If you’re a morning person, Butterfly Beach offers incredible sunrise views, too!
Inspiration Point
At Inspiration Point, you’ll earn that dazzling sunset view after hiking this trail. This is a popular trail since it’s 3.5 miles round trip, so make sure you give yourself enough time to arrive pre-sunset. Inspiration Point boasts incredible views of the Pacific Ocean–perfect for sunset chasers. Dogs are also allowed to hike this trail and must remain on leash.
One Thousand Steps Beach
One Thousand Steps Beach in Santa Barbara is something of a hidden gem. Its rocky beach isn’t made for sunbathing, which keeps the crowds to a minimum. What this beach is perfect for, however, is exploring tide pools and watching sunsets. The high visibility here means you can often see clear to Channel Islands National Park; these coastal views are what makes the sunsets here so spectacular.
