If you’re in Santa Barbara this holiday season, you might have noticed it’s not exactly the cold and snowy climate usually associated with the holidays. But fear not, you can still experience all the Santa Barbara Christmas fun while soaking up the beautiful California sunshine! And best of all, these activities are free.
Santa Barbara Night Market
New this year, the Night Market runs until Dec. 29 Thursday through Sunday, 4-10pm. This market is based on the European-style markets where artisans and local craftsmen come together to sell their wares. Although there are plenty of opportunities to purchase food, wine, and more, the market itself is free, so go ahead and explore the different booths to your heart’s content.
Stearns Wharf Tree
Stop by Stearns Wharf to see the beautiful 25-foot Christmas tree! This dazzling display looks out over the water, juxtaposing the traditional Christmas decorations with Santa Barbara’s non-traditional seasonal warmth. It’s impossible not to feel Christmas cheer while gazing at a Christmas tree. Even better, the first 90 minutes of parking on the wharf are free!
Santa Claus Beach
Okay, so maybe this one isn’t as holiday-themed as the others, but it does have “Santa Claus” in its name! Padaro Beach is commonly called Santa Claus Beach since it’s located at the end of Santa Claus Lane. Embrace Santa Barbara’s sunny and warm approach to the holiday season by taking a day to relax at the beach. Trade snow and ice for white sand and the ocean and celebrate the Christmas season like a local! If you get there early enough, you can even take advantage of the free street parking.
Whether you prefer window shopping, taking in Christmas decorations, or simply enjoying a day at the beach, Santa Barbara has you covered! During your stay, call Marina Beach home and experience all it has to offer.
