Waterfront Activities in Santa Barbara

As one of the waterfront motels in Santa Barbara CA, you could say that we know what’s up. As Santa Barbara is a large city, there’s no want for things to do! But sometimes you just want to spend your entire getaway at the beach (or as close as possible). So we’re here to help you build your itinerary.

Stearns Wharf

Rent some snorkeling gear, check out the Maritime Museum, charter a catamaran! Stearns Wharf is a veritable tourist hot spot.

Now as far as food goes… Shellfish, beer, and ice cream — oh, my! Dinner on the wharf is the perfect way to end a weekend getaway or take out a date. Locals love The Harbor Restaurant, the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company, and Great Pacific Ice Cream Co. And if you’re in the mood, visit Conway’s for wine-tasting!

Santa Barbara Zoo

It’s been consistently voted among the best zoos in the world, and with good reason. A must-see.

Art Walks

Open from 10 in the morning until dusk, the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show is touted as “a piece of living history highlighting the creative talents of local artisans. The show is located on Cabrillo Boulevard from Stearns Wharf to Calle Cesar Chavez. The show takes place every Sunday year-round and on Saturdays of major holiday weekends.” Here is the 2018 schedule. Not only that, but the nearby  public art installments are consistently among our tourists’ favorite things to see.

East Beach

Although Santa Barbara has miles of beach area, we think this one warrants a special trip. You can easily head downtown from here.

Santa Barbara Harbor

Similar to those available along Stearns Wharf, the Santa Barbara Harbor is rich with great seafood restaurants. These tend to be more fast casual dining, however, and we’d probably recommend the harbor for families or those seeking quick options. Breakwater Restaurant, Brophy Brothers, The Endless Summer Bar-Café, On the Alley, and Chuck’s Waterfront Grill are all tried-and-true spots.
