After the gloomy days of the pandemic, some events shine through the clouds to bring some hope, and the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration is a perfect example of this. Read on to learn more about the largest summer event in Santa Barbara!
History of the Celebration
The Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration started separately as the Summer Solstice Parade and Summer Solstice Music Festival back in the 1970s, but then merged to bring a proper joint celebration to the longest day of the year. Over 100,000 spectators per year come to Santa Barbara to enjoy the music, food, and so much more! The parade itself also has over 1,000 participants, making it a can’t miss event as well.
Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration 2022
The whole celebration occurs on June 24th – 25th. The festival with music, food, and artist showcases takes place June 24th from 4pm – 9pm, and June 25th from 12 – 9pm at Alameda Park. The parade with floats, dancing, and performances will start at 12 on June 25th at the intersection of Ortega and Santa Barbara Streets, and will end up at the festival in Alameda Park. The theme for this year’s celebration is Shine! The goal for this year is to renew the collective spirit, come together as a community and SHINE. Plus, admission is free, but the fun will be invaluable for the whole family.
